2008 Parks Bond Properties

The Citizens Advisory Committee presented its recommended list of properties for purchase to the Board of Commissioners in a private session Monday morning, October 26.  The list included a 19-acre parcel on Buckner Road adjoining the Lindley Sixth Grade Academy and the creek-side of Nickajack Park and a 63-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Fontaine Road and the East-West Connector.

The county has placed an indefinite hold on the entire Parks Bond program while county leadership and staff "review the bond financing".  Bond interest costs are part of a bigger issue of the economy causing lagging revenues for the county.  MIC will continue to advocate for Cobb County Board consideration of the Floyd Road property and the Chattahoochee Greenway.  Neither property was included on the Citizens Advisory Committee list of 29 properties recommended for purchase with the voter-approved $40 million bond.   Check back for additional developments as we come to know them.
