The vision for Mableton Improvement Coalition Parks Committee is to develop first-rate parks and facilities that provide Mableton residents a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities in which to participate and enjoy watching. This includes, but is not limited to, sporting events such as baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer as well as passive green space for picnicking and walking trails that will link up with areas like Heritage Park, the Silver Comet Trail and the River Line Historic Area.
As additional park space and trails are acquired through the collaborative efforts of Cobb County, Cobb Parks Coalition, private enterprise and citizenry, we need to make sure existing parks and trails are maintained and improved to optimize the enjoyment of Mableton residents and visitors alike. To this end, a pilot project is under way to improve and expand the facilities at the Lions Park on Lions Club Drive just off Veterans Memorial Highway east of Floyd Road. Recent improvements have also been made at Thompson Park. Other parks in the Mableton area include Wallace, Nickajack and Heritage Parks.
