Parks Friends Group
Many of the Cobb County-maintained parks are looking for interested citizens for their “Friends Group” program, to provide voluntary assistance to help monitor parks within their jurisdiction, in partnership with the department. Volunteers are expected to monitor assigned park, report observed loitering, littering, maintenance issues, or rules violations to the county or 911.
Friends Groups are coalitions of individuals who share similar interests in preserving park land, community gardening, wildlife, cultural sites, and heritage, etc. Friends Group members do NOT have to reside within Cobb County. Friends Groups are established in relation to individual parks, groups of parks, or individual sites/issues.
If you have an interest in volunteering for MIC Park Committee’s Friends Group, please contact Demetrius Lockett, Parks Committee Chair, at parks@mableton.org.
For Friends Group outside of Mableton-area parks, contact: Charlie Monroe, Cobb County Natural Resource Manager, 770-528-8840
