Volunteer for a MIC Committee

Volunteer for Taste of Mableton 4/2/22

The MIC all-volunteer boards and committees in Mableton are vital to the work to make Mableton an even better community to live, work and play. They provide a rich source of knowledge and expertise, expand the community’s ability to research issues and best practices, and enhance communications.

We’re always looking for volunteers!

Parks Friends Group

Many of the Cobb County-maintained parks are looking for interested citizens for their “Friends Group” program, to provide voluntary assistance to help monitor parks within their jurisdiction, in partnership with the department. Volunteers are expected to monitor assigned park, report observed loitering, littering, maintenance issues, or rules violations to the county or 911.

Friends Groups are coalitions of individuals who share similar interests in preserving park land, community gardening, wildlife, cultural sites, and heritage, etc. Friends Group members do NOT have to reside within Cobb County. Friends Groups are established in relation to individual parks, groups of parks, or individual sites/issues.

If you have an interest in volunteering for MIC Park Committee’s Friends Group, please contact Demetrius Lockett, Parks Committee Chair, at parks@mableton.org.

For Friends Group outside of Mableton-area parks, contact: Charlie Monroe, Cobb County Natural Resource Manager, 770-528-8840

Make Your Voice Heard!  County officials, developers and policymakers need to know that you care! Attend meetings about issues important to Mableton. Send emails to let decisionmakers know your opinion. Be sure to subscribe to MIC’s newsletter and follow us on Facebook to learn of these opportunities.

Reach Out!  Don’t sit back and wait for someone else to make the first move. Talk to your neighbor, join the PTA, check out the new business down the street. It’s tempting to stay in the digital realm, but Mableton needs you to be present – in person!

Join MIC!  It’s just $20 a year. Your dollars pay our modest bills and your numbers help us speak up for Mableton with more authority.

We'd love to meet you! Find out how, where and when we work. Join Us
