MIC’s Jeff Padgett was selected as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year by Keep Cobb Beautiful for his tireless and enthusiastic dedication to improving Mableton. Jeff serves on MIC’s Board of Directors and heads up our Adopt A Mile program, which conducts quarterly litter clean-ups on Floyd Road and Old Powder Springs Road. Jeff and his neighbor have also adopted another mile on Clay Road.
Predictably, Jeff was busy when the Awards Ceremony was held at the Galleria, so he dropped by the Keep Cobb Beautiful office later that day to pick up his award. Pictured above, left to right, are: Dawn Smith, KCB Program Specialist; Dr. Jonathan A. Jenkins, Resiliency and Beautification Director; Jeff Padgett; and Kimberly White, KCB Director.
In addition to the litter pick-ups, Jeff has been a tireless advocate for the Mableton Town Square and the area around it. His efforts resulted in trash cans for the square and a coat of paint on the fence around Prater Park. Jeff has lived in and around the historic Mableton community for most of his life and now lives with his family in his grandparents house – a true Mabletonian!
Jeff has also helped the Friends of the Mable House and the Mable House Arts Center with painting and pressure washing. He led volunteers in sprucing up the historic house for the recent Harvest Festival and he pressure washing the Arts Center earlier in the year. Jeff is always ready to take the lead or lend a hand toward improving Mableton’s appearance.
Jeff’s next Adopt-A-Mile clean-up is Saturday, December 8 at 9am at the Mableton Pentacostal Church at 1000 Old Powder Springs Road. Let’s turn out in force to congratulate Jeff on his award – and clean up Mableton!
